Meet the Team

  • Jen is the founder and head baby catcher

Hi! I’m Jen. I am a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM), wife, and mother of 3.

I began my Midwifery journey after a deployment working with civil affairs during a humanitarian mission to SE Asia. I felt a strong call from God to change paths, and for the next 7 years moonlighted as a Midwifery student while on active duty and having 3 babies of my own. Following one unexpected opportunity after another, I am now so grateful and happy to call Belle Grove Birth my own.

Beginning as a Doula and home birth assistant, I later became a certified childbirth instructor, placenta specialist, and baby wearing instructor (and enthusiast).

I have a dedicated passion in supporting women on their journey, meeting them where they are, and providing support and education to achieve their goals. I believe in a holistic and educational approach, with an emphasis on informed decision making, to ensure safe and positive outcomes for families.

I advocate strongly for the empowerment of women during such an important and vulnerable time and strive to create an environment where your family will feel heard, supported, encouraged, and in control of your care.

  • Maggie is one of our birth assistants, and also has her own doula practice, Visitation Birth.

Hello, mamas new and old! My name is Maggie and I am a DONA International Birth Doula. During the last month of my second pregnancy, I read the pregnancy book "Made for This" by Mary Haseltine which helped me feel confident that I was capable and able to give birth, not resigned that it would happen. While both of my births were in hospital settings, both were helped with medicines, and the second one had a successful epidural (unlike the first), after reading and planning more for the second birth, I felt incredibly empowered, in control, and ultimately felt that I was in fact made for this moment of birth.

Since then I have been passionate about all things birth and wanting to help not only mothers but also their husband/partner to feel in control and as prepared as possible going into such an intense, but beautiful experience.

When not engaged in birth work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three kiddos engaging in my faith, running, gardening, and doing anything else that can get me outside!

Whether you're having a vaginal or a scheduled cesarean, medicated or unmedicated, hospital, birth center, or home birth, I would love to be a part of your support team and help you know that you are made for this!

  • I’m Gabbie, a certified birth doula and postpartum nurse. I’ve known since a young age that God wanted me working in the birth world which is why I started my journey in the field of nursing. I love being a nurse but there are times where the tasks of the job get in the way of me building a relationship with my patients that’s so important to me.

There is something so beautiful about birth that we don’t see anywhere else in life. And I have seen how Gods design for it is something we’ve lost in the modern world. It’s my calling to ensure that mothers and fathers get to experience that beauty by supporting them throughout pregnancy and the birth of their baby.

I live in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia with my husband and our two kids. Being a wife, mom and birth worker is where my heart lies but I also have a deep love for reading, cooking anything in the kitchen or baking bread!

Pregnancy, birth, postpartum and how it all relates to my Catholic faith is something I love to discuss which is why I co-host the Blessed be Birth Podcast with Maggie. We dive into a lot of topics so be sure to listen if you don’t already! I’m also on Instagram as @her_worth_within if you want to follow along where I share bits and pieces of motherhood, my love for cooking and of course birth related content!

  • Cynthia is our Assistant Midwife and Lactation Specialist

Hello! I’m Cynthia. I am a Registered Nurse (RN), devoted wife, and mother of two. I have been working in the hospital setting as a Mother/ Baby nurse since 2019 and I am thrilled to now assist in the beautiful births at home and Belle Grove Birth Center.

My decision to switch to the out-of-hospital setting began with my experiences working in the hospital along with my own personal experiences with Jen. The natural birth of my son at a birth center compared to my daughter’s hospital birth was truly eye opening and it has made me a strong proponent that birth is a natural beautiful process. I believe this is an exciting and empowering time for women as they welcome their newborn babies into the world.

I am also a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist who has a passion for helping women and their babies through their breastfeeding journey. I am excited to be a part of the Shenandoah Midwifery team and I cannot wait to assist during births, breastfeeding, and postpartum care.
